This is crazy. Longs can earn yield while some idiot bets against the stock they believe will go up. There's every incentive for longs to lend out stock.

Debatably true, if applied to individual stocks selectively & consciously, but obv false if applied broadly to most of the market & without clear consent of the shareholder
