How easy/practical would it be to have a longer (and/or wider) 2nd stage with perhaps 50% more fuel and reduce the same amount from the centre core?
Same lift off weight but much slower re-entry for centre core and slightly better dV overall.

You’re touching on a good critique of Falcon 9. Our 1st stage to 2nd stage propellant ratio is too high. We’re fixing that with Starship.
