In order to keep you here, Twitter gives less exposure to tweets with links. If you don't want to be manipulated in this way, make a point of posting links and liking and retweeting tweets that contain them.

The algorithm is trying to maximize unregretted user time on X, which is a good goal. If a link is very compelling and sent by many, you will see the link.
And of course links always show up in the Following tab.
