I think the argument against humanoid robots - and for vertically specialized robots - would be powerful if 1) the entire world was not optimized for humans and 2) economies of scale did not exist. Specialized robots need to massively outperform both humans and humanoid robots.

Yes. Technically, you can automate any task, but it requires a lot of specialized programming. Earth is already tailor-made for generalized humanoid robots.
