Future wars will be drone wars.
Any given battle roughly comes down to kill ratio times number of units, assuming both sides have roughly similar unit counts.
This means that winning on kill ratio is irrelevant if the opponent has a much larger unit production advantage. This was much in evidence in the WW2 Pacific and Russian theaters.
Important to note that battles where one side has a large unit count advantage usually result in disproportionate casualties to the smaller force, due to flanking, encirclement or other maneuvers.
The exceptions to this rule are notable for their rarity, not their frequency, which is why we still remember Alexander the Greatest today (was there a better Alexander?).
