Many Bay Area parents eager to push their kids to learn coding, instead of teaching them how to fix their own toys, or bikes — which seems backward to me.
We shallowly introduce skills to our kids without purpose they can understand simply because for the chance of “high paying”

Not worth pushing kids to code (or other stuff imo). I liked anything mechanical, but the second I saw a computer, you couldn’t drag me away from it! I immediately pulled two all-nighters teaching myself to program.
No pushing is required when kids love something.
