Inflation makes asset prices go up, but not their value in real terms. When an asset is sold, taxes are paid on the difference between the new and old prices, even though value in real terms didn’t change. This affects anyone with assets.
Cash balances with low interest rates are disproportionately affected by inflation, but inflation is a tax that affects everyone.
Inflation caused by increasing the money supply due to Federal government spending being higher than Federal tax revenue.
