Fun fact about this spacewalk, Mattingly had lost his wedding ring at some point during the mission inside the Command Module (likely when going to the bathroom), when he went on the spacewalk, they had to depressurize the command module, the wedding ring wound up slowly floating
National Air and Space Museum@airandspace· Apr 25, 2025Apollo 16 command module pilot T.K. Mattingly performed an 83-minute spacewalk #OTD in 1972 during the return trip from the Moon. It was to retrieve film cassettes from the Scientific Instrument Module bay at the rear of the service module.
