Plants suck at converting photons from the sun into energy (0.15%) vs pv solar panels (20%) - the one thing going for plants is they self replicate. But if we have a choice of how to use land & how to store / consume energy it should be PV + battery + electric system
Wes@wmorrill3· Jul 12, 2025Corn crop is effectively a really inefficient solar panel. It's absorbing and converting solar energy to stored energy through photosynthesis. Then we need to do work to harvest it, process it to fuel and eventually burn it for energy, creating waste heat along the way.

We don’t even need to use land with plants. There are massive swaths of bleak, empty desert in America.
The few lizards and bugs that live there would probably appreciate some shade.
