Why do people still call these trillion dollar AI megacorps "labs"?
They're massive corporations, with all that entails.

Yeah, the “labs” term makes no sense. They are for-profit corporations.
Any entity that reports quarterly earnings per share is obviously not a “lab”!
They may own labs, but they also have large enterprise sales teams generating billions of dollars in revenue.
