Looked at another way: Today, 5.2% of Washington's tests came up with a positive result. Yesterday, 5.9% did. In the 7 days before that, 6.4% of them did. So, there *is* a bit of progress after all. Their number of new positives *as a share of new tests* is slightly declining.

Do you have data on the false positive rate? I’ve heard a wide range of numbers. CDC numbers are almost an order of magnitude lower between high fidelity data (onset date known) and “presumed positive”.

So long as those two things hold, the rate of increase in the number of *detected* cases is primarily a function of the rate of increase in the number of *tests* and does not tell us that much about how fast the actual *infection* is spreading.

Build one large central ventilator , multiple branches/lines with one ways values/regulators to regulate pressure and prevent mixing.

A single computer, pump & pressure accumulator would be fine for many patients, but ideally individual valves per patient to personalize care & avoid cross-flow risk

Could the same engineers/facilities used for X/S HEPA filters work on ventilators @elonmusk - are the skills/competencies/capacity transferable? Or would this be more likely to borrow from work of SpaceX on Crew Drago capsule's life support system?
Elon Musk
@elonmusk · Mar 20, 2020
Yes, we’re working on ventilators, even though I think they probably won’t be needed

So in ten minutes the evil genius who is one of our GP anaesthetists (with a PhD in diaphragmatic mechanics) increased our rural hospitals ventilator capacity from one to nine!!!

Thank you, Elon!! 💖 Truly 🤗💓💓💓💓💓💓💓💓💓💓💓💓💓💓
I'm hoping enough ppl practice social distancing to buy enough time for treatments to be developed & for ventilators to not be needed en masse... but I also know we're humans, & that's unlikely to happen.

Anyone feeling even slightly ill should stay home. Elderly should avoid close contact, even with family members, for now. Those seem most important.

Kids are essentially immune, but elderly with existing conditions are vulnerable. Family gatherings with close contact between kids & grandparents probably most risky.

Imo, this professor is correct. Also, growth rate of confirmed C19 cases is dropping every day, despite 10X increase in testing. From Tues to today, was 43%, 24%, 17%. Track this chart:
