To those DMing me about how @Tesla's 4680 Structural Pack is non-recyclable or of low-recyclability: I believe you are incorrect.
The battery pack seems to be designed for easy large-scale recycling of active materials via the bottom of the pack, not via the top cover. @elonmusk

No problem to recycle the 4680 pack. Just think of any battery pack as super high grade ore – it is always better to start with high grade ore than low grade!

Very curious how this plays out for B7. The biggest question is how’re the engines. What kind of damage was done to them. I’m teetering between it being catastrophic to the engines & “tis but a scratch”… can’t wait to hear what the teams determine & what the next steps are!

Base of the vehicle seems ok by flashlight. I was just out there about an hour ago. We shut down the pad for the night for safety. Will know more in the morning.

You are gazing at Webb’s First Deep Field. There will be many more from #NASAWebb. Bright white galaxies are stirring up this scene in galaxy cluster SMACS 0723—warping and stretching the light from extremely distant galaxies: webbtelescope.pub/3IpXAFT (1/3)

Cool, congrats!
Now the simulators will have to spend more money on rendering.

Which books are you currently reading?
Elon Musk
@elonmusk · Jul 12, 2022
Rereading The Life of Greece by Durant. In recent months, read American Caesar, Masters of Doom, Not Much of an Engineer, Wages of Destruction and Storm of Steel.
Not much book fiction lately. Video games seem to have better stories these days.

The problem I wish Elizabeth Warren would solve is requiring hotels to all have the same lighting switch configuration. First 90 minutes of any trip is blown trying to figure this out.

Elon, would it be possible to maybe burn/evaporate the leaks caused before ignition? I guess space shuttle used to do this, they used to setup small sparks under the shuttle's engine section & burn off all the Hydrogen leaks that may have happened before ignition ...
Elon Musk
@elonmusk · Jul 12, 2022
That is one of the things we will be doing going forward.
This particular issue, however, was specific to the engine spin start test (Raptor has a complex start sequence).
Going forward, we won’t do a spin start test with all 33 engines at once.

We have quite a serious issue with gerontocracy, where the leaders of so many countries are extremely old. And it is just impossible to stay in touch with the people if you are many generations older than them.

Hmm. I’m a little surprised this is your take. I say Trump/DeSantis 2024 DeSantis 2028/32
Elon Musk
@elonmusk · Jul 12, 2022
Trump would be 82 at end of term, which is too old to be chief executive of anything, let alone the United States of America.
If DeSantis runs against Biden in 2024, then DeSantis will easily win – he doesn’t even need to campaign.

your response makes no sense. What about his presidency did you have a problem with:
Energy Independence
Lower Regulations
Lower Taxes
ISIS Obliterated
XL Pipeline Being Constructed
Russian Pipeline Stopped
Border Under Control
What -- on policy -- did you have an issue with?
Elon Musk
@elonmusk · Jul 12, 2022
Yeah, but too much drama. Do we really want a bull in a china shop situation every single day!?
Also, I think the legal maximum age for start of Presidential term should be 69.

I don’t hate the man, but it’s time for Trump to hang up his hat & sail into the sunset.
Dems should also call off the attack – don’t make it so that Trump’s only way to survive is to regain the Presidency.
