The scale of Starlink is almost impossible to comprehend Out of 16,848 active satellites in orbit as of October 31, 2026, 11,184 are Starlink That's 66% of every active satellite humanity has in orbit Just look at the numbers: • Starlink: 11,184 • OneWeb: 651 • Amazon Kuiper: 391 • Qianfan (China): 257 • Iridium: 80 Starlink alone has nearly 2 TIMES more active satellites than every other operator on Earth COMBINED And what's even more insane is how fast SpaceX built this On May 24, 2019, Falcon 9 launched the first batch of 60 Starlink satellites Just 2,717 days later, SpaceX is still launching batches of 27 satellites, including another mission on October 31 SpaceX has built the largest satellite constellation in human history, at a scale no other operator comes close to matching And this is just the beginning

It’s even worse than Anish notes here because boys make up 61% of the top SAT scores. So despite that fact and the fact that men apply about 2x as often to MIT; @MIT admits more women every year than men. It’s impossible for this to be merit based. Just mathematically impossible.

Spam (used to house Hormel products) will have ~200k GB300s, but configured for inference, so much simpler networking and less than half the fiber. I walked

A Stanford student got reported for academic misconduct last semester. His research paper was so good his professor assumed he bought it. The academic integrity hearing lasted 3 hours. Here's what happened in that room. The panel asked him to explain his methodology from scratch. He opened his laptop, pulled up and started rebuilding the entire paper live in front of them. First he fed it his raw notes and asked: "You are a research methodology expert. Here are my raw notes. Identify the 3 strongest arguments buried in this data, rank them by originality, and show me exactly where each one challenges or extends existing literature." The professors went quiet. Then he ran: "Now simulate a hostile peer reviewer with a PhD in this field. Generate every serious objection they would raise against my thesis. Then tell me which objections actually have merit and which ones I can dismantle." One professor leaned forward and asked him to stop so she could write down the prompt. He kept going. "Take my weakest argument and steelman it harder than I did. Show me what it would look like if it were airtight. Then tell me what I'd need to prove to get it there." Then the one that ended the hearing. "You are my thesis advisor. I have 24 hours before submission. Read this draft and tell me the single change that would move this from a B+ to an A. Be brutal." He walked them through how he'd used that last output to rewrite his conclusion three times until it held up under every objection in the room. What took most PhD candidates 6 months of back-and-forth with advisors, he was doing in real-time inside a single workflow. The panel didn't just clear him. They gave him the highest grade in the department's history and asked him to present the workflow to faculty. The irony is beautiful. The paper looked too good to be human because he'd found a way to think harder than most humans bother to. That's not cheating. That's the new ceiling.

Macroharder takes up about 810,000 square feet. Minihard is about 312,000, and @CernBasher says it packs in a lot more compute despite the far smaller footprint. That's why he calls Minihard a product, one that keeps evolving like everything Tesla and SpaceX build. He walked

March 2017. South Australia was still getting over a statewide blackout, and someone asked on Twitter whether Tesla could guarantee 100 MW in 100 days. Elon's answer, word for word: "Tesla will get the system installed and working 100 days from contract signature or it is free. That serious enough for you?" As a skipper I've learned that in a storm, promises mean nothing and only what works counts. Elon put a price on his promise. The clock started on Sept 29, 2017, when the grid connection agreement was signed. On Dec 1 the Hornsdale Power Reserve was feeding the grid. That's 63 days, with 37 to spare, and it was the world's largest lithium-ion battery (100 MW / 129 MWh). On launch night Elon said: "Talk is cheap. Action is difficult." Now the part that gets me. In Q3 2026 alone, Tesla deployed 13.7 GWh of energy storage. That's about 106 Hornsdales in one quarter, more than one every single day. What made world headlines in 2017 is now a daily routine. Megapack factories: Lathrop 40 GWh, Shanghai 20 GWh, and Megafactory Texas has started production with a planned 50 GWh a year. This was never really about one battery. It's the master plan in action: solar plus storage plus electric transport, step by step until it's simply normal. In Elon's words that night: "Earth is itself a satellite. It's a satellite of the sun." And: "the faster we get there, the better."
