Hot-staging isn’t new, but I wouldn’t have thought to use it with a reusable vehicle! Here’s a video from a Titan II showing hot-staging of the upper stage which destroys the vented interstage at separation. Hot-staging is advantageous because it avoids the need for ullage

That means that just one full discharge is worth ~0.3% of the total capital cost of a Megapack. That's pretty bonkers.
