Tesla is developing a NN training computer called Dojo to process truly vast amounts of video data. It’s a beast! Please consider joining our AI or computer/chip teams if this sounds interesting.

So it kinda uses a friction heat to move the solids particles into a jointed mass binding?

Metal has a fudge-like consistency near its melting point, so you can just smoosh it together

Friction stir welding is a solid-state joining process that uses a non-consumable tool to join two facing workpieces without melting the material. Heat is generated by friction between the rotating tool and the workpiece material which leads to a softened region near the FSW tool

This is out of our hands, so hard to predict. Maybe on order of 10 billion km of real world driving will be enough to convince regulators.

Are you concerned that hasty govt action out of fear could cause overregulation and stunt progress?

Is there a ton more work ahead or just fine tuning?

A lot of work remains. Technically, we have it working in sim with FPGAs at ~0.01% capability. This will be a true supercomputer.

Elon, has dojo improved to a point where we can call it self-supervised? As nothing can be perfectly 100% self-supervised. Maybe semi self-supervised? As still some work is human curated. 🤔🤞
Elon Musk
@elonmusk · Aug 15, 2020
Dojo is still being built. Maybe a year or so from V1.0.

Hey, @elonmusk : over 1 year ago, you predicted @Tesla would sell its 1 millionth “robotaxi” by the end of 2020.
(Hardware 2 or better vehicle, upgradable to Full Self-Driving)
Will you announce when $TSLA does? 🤞🎉
(by my count, it should happen later this month) Thanks!!👏
