A combustion engine is basically a heater that happens to generate forward motion
Moving to a Model Y was trading up - getting a faster, more luxurious vehicle while putting 80% of my daily driving cost back in my pocket, and it can drive itself!

Yeah, reciprocating engines in cars spend ~3/4 of their energy generating heat and only ~1/4 generating motion.
However, it should be noted that combined cycle gas/steam turbines have an impressive efficiency of 64%!
