Elon Musk says humanity doesn't even register on the scale aliens would use to judge us..
in 1964 a Soviet astronomer named Nikolai Kardashev ranked civilizations by power..
Type 1..
use all the energy of your planet..
Type 2..
use all the energy of your star..
Type 3..
use all the energy of your galaxy..
where are we..
not even Type 1..
the sun holds 99.86% of all the mass in our solar system..
Earth is in the tiny miscellaneous part..
and humanity uses less than a trillionth of the sun's power..
Musk says reaching one millionth would be an epic achievement..
we think we're advanced..
on a cosmic scale..
we haven't even started
