To state the obvious, borrowing $1.6T every six months is unsustainable and will only go up if we are pulled into a war.
To state the non-obvious, if we are borrowing $1.6T every six months, why aren't we trying to elongate the yield curve and sell long dated maturities past 30
Lyn Alden@LynAldenContact· 30 окт. 2023 г.The Treasury expects to borrow nearly $1.6 trillion in net new debt during the six-month period covering this quarter and next quarter.

The software engineering behind the X "algorithm" is epic. It has to distill 500 million daily tweets down to a personalized handful it shows each person. This algorithm runs ~57,000 times a second 🤯 ... and each execution takes 220 seconds CPU time, but runs in 1.5 seconds real

Lack of incentives. Marriage is a proxy metric, anyway. What is it we really care about? New babies? New high school grads who score 1500+ on the SAT? How about we directly target the desired outcome. Proposal: parents will get lifetime 30% kickback on all tax dollars from kids.
Benjamin Carlson@bfcarlson· 29 окт. 2023 г.This is shocking: 40% of young adults say marriage “has outlived its usefulness.” What is going on?

Amazing what a difference competent balance sheet management has made - companies who extended duration and locked-in low fixed rates are in an entirely different world from those with floating rate debt that needs to be refinanced soon.
Elon Musk

No debt is even better. If these high rates continue, even those who locked in low rates will have to refi.
