blocks also act as “badge of honor” for people, which can increase harassment. “Look at this person who couldn’t take a joke and blocked me”

Block gives a false sense of security.
It is a net negative feature and I could not be happier to see it go poof.
I also find it hilarious that I got blocked by several people for posting this opinion.

Elon, if Booster 9 is doing a soft landing in the Gulf, what it is the idea to check the results or the impact of hot staging on the booster?
Video from sep? Retrieve it from the water to later analyze?

Interstage extension for hot gas venting added to enable Starship to turn on its engines while booster engines still firing!
SpaceX@SpaceX· 18 авг. 2023 г.Vented interstage and heat shield installed atop Booster 9. Starship and Super Heavy are being upgraded to use a separation method called hot-staging, where Starship’s second stage engines will ignite to push the ship away from the booster

Hot-staging isn’t new, but I wouldn’t have thought to use it with a reusable vehicle! Here’s a video from a Titan II showing hot-staging of the upper stage which destroys the vented interstage at separation. Hot-staging is advantageous because it avoids the need for ullage

Hot-staging gives the best performance, but needs to be done without blowing up the booster!

Let's just say you have a $150k salary in SF:
- After taxes your pay is $98k
- After rent $50k
- After insurance $36k
- After happy hours it’s $22k
- After annual European vacations you're at $10k
- After the GPUs you’re at -$100mm
Seriously, how does anyone survive out here?

The @Tesla Megapack XL is 3.9 MWh, meaning in an event like this discharging fully is worth $7,800.
That means that just one full discharge is worth ~0.3% of the total capital cost of a Megapack. That's pretty bonkers.
Matt Smith@nerdalert· 17 авг. 2023 г.Wow, real-time prices for electricity in ERCOT are now at around $2,000/MWh in most locations. For reference, a normal price is more like $20-$50.
