This is a skill issue FYI. If you are hardworking, smart, and motivated getting by a job is easy. Even as a white male with a CS degree. (I’m a white male with a CS degree)
Just build stuff and show people

H1B reform is needed because IT consultancies abuse the visa. Tech people do get this
One thing the discourse below purely ignores is how society is about to change because of AGI
Given that reality, America must truly select for *the superlative*— imagine ARC-AGI for humans
VISH BURRA 🏴☠️@VishBurra· 25 дек. 2024 г.Okay since the H1B visa and country caps and the tech sector and India an Indians are all a hot topic right now, I would like to address this as someone who has worked behind the scenes in H1B consultancies in the tech sector and explain EXACTLY why I’m against removing country

Why I believe that @elonmusk is the real-world Santa Claus. Prior to Elon purchasing Twitter, we would be banned if we:
1) said that men cannot menstruate
2) said that men cannot bear children
3) used the word "retard"
4) challenged anything from the Church of Settled Science
5)

99 times out of 100 whenever someone complains about how they failed at some task or got passed up at a job interview, it’s a skill issue. Mediocre people always overestimate their capabilities and then claim to be the victims of systemic injustice. It’s an easy scapegoat.

Peter Thiel went to college then Stanford law. Obviously had the IQ for stem.
Question is why did everyone high IQ who wandered to be “successful” go into law or finance and not STEM.
“Everyone just did.” Obviously. But why.
It’s a hard question to answer.

🇺🇸THE U.S. ENGINEERING SHORTAGE IS A TICKING TIME BOMB
By 2030, nearly 1 in 3 engineering roles could go unfilled, threatening industries and critical government projects alike.
The talent gap isn’t just about numbers—it’s about skills, diversity, and the lack of coordinated

The official stats show that the H-1B is neither cheap nor "replacing" Americans.
H-1B has a 85k annual cap, ~70% of it is which is Computer Science / IT or ~60k jobs.
The US graduates ~160k students in CS a year, BS and MS. 40% White (64k), 25% non-American (40k, many included

As an American with a masters in aerospace engineering, I can tell you there are not enough of us. My graduation at UF was literally about 600 Indians and 10 Americans. The classes weren’t rejecting American students, there was simply not enough supply.
