Take a tour of @SpaceX's Starbase factory with the ultimate tour guide, @elonmusk! It was INCREDIBLE to pick his brain for over 2 hours while walking around checking out Starship hardware! He even made some design decisions IN REAL TIME! Enjoy part 1 of 3! youtu.be/t705r8ICkRw

That was fun! I was operating on limited sleep & serious back pain, so not at my best.
It’s awesome that you know so much about how rockets work & their development history.
Am happy to do another factory tour in a month or two and talk about what’s changed since last time.

A troll was trying to get a rise out of me yesterday, suggesting that I should somehow feel bad about Elon's success after my failed aerospace venture. I can't overstate how alien that thought is to me -- my joy at these things being built is deep.

😂 remembered this convo
“Tesla’s broke. 100%. They can’t produce them. The auto companies have caught up to him. He’s never generated anywhere close to positive cash flow. He’s subsidized by 25,000 per vehicle. It’s over.” teslarati.com/tesla-peak-ant…

Now THAT is the right guy for the job. His biographies are some of the greatest books ever written in my opinion.

Yeah, they’re all good, but I particularly liked his biography of Ben Franklin

I have great admiration for John’s engineering ability! What he did with Armadillo was incredible.
I’ve tried to convince him many times to join SpaceX, but he has always declined (sigh).

“The goal of SpaceX is to really build the technologies necessary to make life multiplanetary, …this is the first time in the 4 billion year history of earth, that its possible for life to become multiplanetary!” ~ @elonmusk

That is the goal. Our official name is actually Space Exploration Technologies. SpaceX is short form.

"Manufacturing is underrated and design is overrated."
Musk highlights how 10-100 times more effort goes into the manufacturing system than the design.

I do think that great design & engineering of products are critical, but manufacturing & supply chain require orders of magnitude more work

What were you most shocked about with NASA calling you
Elon Musk
@elonmusk · 4 авг. 2021 г.
I thought we had lost for sure. We were just a tiny company back then, only 1 of 4 launches got to orbit & I had no money left. Out of the blue, a few days before Christmas, NASA calls to say we won.

Just want to say thanks to those in government who fight hard for the right thing to happen, despite extreme pressure to do otherwise.
Therein lies the core goodness of the American state.
