The cognitive speed difference between near term AGI and humans might be larger than the difference between humans and trees. Lets hope we can continue to play a useful or at least decorative role in a world that becomes radically more interesting and beautiful.

From AI's perspective in 2-3 years from now, we look more like plants than animals: big slow chunks of biofuel showing weak signs of intelligence when undisturbed for ages (seconds) on end.
