It is a bad sign for our democracy how many people think the NYT's objective should be to help Democrats win rather than do good journalism. Not usually stated as explicitly as JCO. But that's the not-very-subtle implication of a lot of progressive media criticism.

What liberals like JCO forget (or never knew?) is that the NYTimes is not supposed to be rooting for OUR side's victory. Their stated purpose is to report the news to their readers. "Our mission is simple: We seek the truth and help people understand the world."
