Assault by means of a deadly weapon (Machette) isn’t an arrestable offense? I find that hard to believe.

It may technically be on the books, as many other laws are that are not enforced, but ask anyone in SF if the police will actually show up if you’re threatened by someone on the street, but were not physically harmed (because you outran them).
