In 1998, Bill Gates had 2B shares of MSFT when it was worldâs most valuable firm.
If he held, Gates ($806B) would be wealthier than the top 4 richest people combined. Instead, Buffett advised him to give most away and Gates is now only worth $150B.
LESSON: Never ask for advice.
