I received my bluecheck back in ~2010 or so because I was a minor poker celebrity who happened to know a guy who knew another guy who could get you one. Hardly a robust measure of trustworthiness lol

Now with X, our preliminary view is that:
❌They deceive users
❌They infrige #DSA
X has now the right of defence —but if our view is confirmed we will impose fines & require significant changes.

Blue checks were being bought and sold openly.
One didn’t even need to go to the “dark web”, you could just Google “blue check for sale”!
