The truth is: I was pleasantly surprised by my interactions with a number of attendees at the DNC. Yes, there were plenty crazies who screamed in my face, half-naked protestors, and chants of “RACIST!” But there were far more people who were willing to engage in a civil exchange.

Less these days, but still quite often, if I mention Trump’s name in conversation in California, people start foaming at the mouth as if they were just injected rabies and meth.
Rational discourse then becomes difficult.
