The fundamental challenge is that China has almost 4 times the population of the US and their GDP per capita is trending to roughly approximate that of the US.
If this trend continues, China will have an economy ~4X bigger. Even if their GDP/capita growth tapers off, China’s economy will be at least 2X to 3X bigger than America. Simple math.
