Grok 4.20 is funny, based & smart 😂
Michael WheatfillMichael Wheatfill@mwheatfill· 17. Feb. 2026
@wholemars Oh wow. Sonnet 4.6 and Opus 4.6 with Extended Thinking both failed this. Grok 4.2 with 4 agents succeeded however.

@raines1220 LiDAR also does not work well in snow, rain or dust due to reflection scatter. That’s why Waymos stop working in any heavy precipitation. As I have said many times, there is a role for LiDAR in some circumstances and I personally oversaw the development of LiDAR for the SpaceX

SpaceX is painfully serious about space data centers. They have a cyclotron to test their flight hardware. It’s not only data center hardware that benefits from this ramp up in testing cadence. But it’s not a huge leap to assume that there will be some data center chips headed

If you want data centers in space, you need radiation-tolerant chips. Specifically, chips that survive both: ▸ a cumulative "total ionizing dose" (TID) ▸ bit-flipping, energetic particle strikes (SEE) The latter is scariest. Google tested its Trillium chips and found that the

Grok 4.2 will be about an order of magnitude smarter and faster than Grok 4 when the public beta concludes next month. Still many bug fixes and improvements landing every day. The public beta gives us more critical feedback to address.

we're already using Grok 4.20 (agents) in our research process, from a research perspective it does feel like we jumped another 9. I'm particularly a fan of the improved sourcing!

ruing technical terms here. Mixture of Experts (MoE) has literally nothing to do with what xAI actually shipped in 4.20. This isn't one singular model, dense or MoE, with internal routing or sparse experts. It's four separate replicas (instanced) running at once in a quorum-st

Grok is most physically accurate of the four. Opus rear bike frame makes no sense structurally, there is no connection from pedals to rear wheel, both legs of Pelican are on the right side of the bike and handle bars are disconnected.

The Grok 4.2 release candidate (public beta) is now available for use. You need to select it specifically. Critical feedback is appreciated. Unlike prior versions of Grok, 4.2 is able to learn rapidly, so there will be improvements every week with release notes.

I just got access to Grok 4.20 beta & I’m testing it on biomedical questions; I can already say it has greatly improved. In fact, for a very complex experiment outcome prediction, Grok 4.20 gave an amazing response! I’d even say it’s the best I’ve seen from any model! Looking 👍!
