First they told us that we shouldn’t try to make peace because Putin would never negotiate. Now they tell us that we shouldn’t try to make peace because Putin *will* negotiate.

Natural human tendency is to want to negotiate when you think you’re losing, rather than when you think you’re winning.
Problem is that circumstances can switch from winning to losing very fast.
