The older we get, the more we appreciate that some of the books they forced people to read as kids actually slapped. Forcing kids to read Brave New World, 1984, Fahrenheit 451, Lord of the Flies, or any other iteration of overreaching government/the evil of man was based AF.

Yeah. At the time, I thought teachers were demented to have little kids read Lord of the Flies. I accidentally read Animal Farm when I was maybe 8 or 9 and thought it was a book with talking animals. Kept expecting the story to turn around, but the horse never did come back 😢
