A properly designed COPV is about half the weight of a state of the art (titanium) propellant tank of the same volume and pressure rating. Can't beat carbon fiber!

Definitely for super high pressure tanks, but a stainless steel Starship is roughly similar in mass to a carbon fiber version (which is where we started out) and way cheaper/easier to make.
Stainless gets that massive bump in strength at cryo and needs much less shielding for hypersonic entry. Hats off to Charlie Bossart and the OG Atlas engineers!
