It’s so tragic that these engines just crash into the ocean every flight

Sabatier fuel plant for starship
Will this work Elon?

Elon Musk
@elonmusk · May 7, 2020
Looks about right. Ice mining/refining on Mars & maximizing total system efficiency will be hard. CO2 is easy, as Mars atmosphere is mostly that. Also has good amount of N2, which is important for life.

For methane they can use the sabatier process! Look that up and hopefully that'll give you an idea 👍

Yes, converts CO2 & H2O to CH4 & O2. Perfect for Mars!

Might be a dumb question, but is the methane flare's flame being out of a concern? Chat is freaking out about it haha
Elon Musk
@elonmusk · May 7, 2020
Flare stack flamed out. In a few weeks we’ll be recondensing methane using solar power, so no flare stack.

18 yrs ago today, a company that has changed the entire landscape of how we will access Space was founded! In just that time they delivered cargo to @Space_Station, put a @Tesla into space, landed/reused orbital boosters, landed/reused capsules, launched 🛰🛰,just to name a few!

That was the whole company back then. Grew organically from a simple mariachi party in El Segundo.
