How will customers first get their hands on them? Just order online or will this be something in box stores like Target and Best Buy too?
Elon Musk
@elonmusk · Jul 15, 2020
Yeah, will take less than a minute to order on when it goes live

Starlink terminal has motors to self-orient for optimal view angle. No expert installer required. Just plug in & give it a clear view of the sky. Can be in garden, on roof, table, pretty much anywhere, so long as it has a wide view of the sky.

@Peter_J_Beck might disagree that the most important thing is mass to orbit 😉 they were definitely on track for a fast cadence. Hope they get back at it soon!
Elon Musk
@elonmusk · Jul 14, 2020
To revolutionize space, the right metric is mass to orbit or you could translate that to # of useful satellites brought to orbit. No substitute for mass though. Scale don’t lie.

Amazing. As a pilot I can tell you that autopilot can mean that the system only keeps the plane going straight and keeps it at the same altitude. It can be as basic as that or it can be advanced like an autoland system in the fog. @Tesla is not being misleading...

Ever noticed how planes have Autopilot, but they still have two human pilots?
“Autopilot does not replace human operators. Instead Autopilot assist’s the operator’s control of the vehicle, allowing the operator to focus on brorader aspects of operation”

Tesla Autopilot was literally named after the term used in aviation. Also, what about Autobahn!?

Total mass launched to orbit in the second quarter of 2020, by rocket builder (Source: Bryce Space and Technology):
1) SpaceX 🇺🇸
2) CASC 🇨🇳
3) Mitsubishi Heavy Industries 🇯🇵
4) Roscosmos 🇷🇺
5) United Launch Alliance 🇺🇸

Elon Musk
@elonmusk · Jul 14, 2020
Mass to orbit is a more accurate metric than # of launches, although should be orbit-adjusted (eg GTO>LEO), which would increase competitor mass numbers

11. Reusable rockets. Reusability according to Rogozin is not about 10 launches of the same booster. The real reusability is 100 launches and at least 3 engine starts during a single launch, and our specialists can develop such engines.👀
Elon Musk
@elonmusk · Jul 13, 2020
Reusability is essential. A rocket that is single use is just as absurd as a single use airplane. F9 engines already fire 3 times per flight.

It's the second Falcon 9 launch to be postponed indefinitely in recent days as SpaceX tries to cut turnaround times for reused rockets. spaceflightnow.com/2020/07/13/fal…
