There is so much useless bureaucracy. Everything has a process. Mundane things need to be signed off on. There are always more layers of review. So much of this stuff needs to be slashed so the average person can easily navigate society.

When tariffs are used as a tool to get other countries to lower their tariffs and non-tariff barriers or for national security, they are good for the average citizen, otherwise they are bad x.com/i/grok/share/g…

A simple thought experiment solves this apparent conundrum: if tariffs were applied between each of our 50 states, we would obviously have an economic catastrophe. Now, why would that logic change if you extended it to other countries?

The Byzantine navy was the greatest navy in history, they invented Greek fire and ruled the Mediterranean for nearly 1000 years, but they outsourced their shipbuilding to the Venetians in the 1180s, and 20 years later they were conquered via a naval assault…by the Venetians.

No foreign policy actions can save a civilization if its population keeps dropping. Population collapse of Romans over time is what caused Rome to fall. The Romans worried about this, but failed to stop it.
