To state the obvious, borrowing $1.6T every six months is unsustainable and will only go up if we are pulled into a war.
To state the non-obvious, if we are borrowing $1.6T every six months, why aren't we trying to elongate the yield curve and sell long dated maturities past 30

Amazing what a difference competent balance sheet management has made - companies who extended duration and locked-in low fixed rates are in an entirely different world from those with floating rate debt that needs to be refinanced soon.
