Elon... would you please share a video of one of those mighty roaring Raptor fires? (Are you also as enamored with these gorgeous beasts? -Quite incredible! ;))

Hard to tell scale, as body diameter is 9m or ~30 ft, but it looks like it could be R2D2 size in this video

Thrust section seems intact, any plans to reuse it, or just build a new one?

Hard to hide anything from the Internet! Yeah, we’re going to reuse much of the thrust section.

I did a deep rundown on every time an abort system has or could have been used. I have no doubt eventually rockets can be 99.999% reliable, just like how airplanes went from death traps to safe! It’ll just take a lot flights 👌 youtu.be/v6lPMFgZU5Q

Exactly. No point in an abort system on Mars, so got to make the core ship super safe.

Trueeeee! Is that something you think can ever be deep in the 9’s for safety? Pressure is one of those scary things that’s a pretty big difference between rockets and airliners safety wise. A jet loses pressure, not a big deal, a rocket does and it’s game over.

Rockets & spacecraft have to operate in vacuum, so maintaining pressure is fundamental. However, this can be made very safe over time imo.

If you lose pressure control on rocket propellant tanks, you’re doomed anyway, so might as well go all in

There are redundant pressure control valves. It’s a new system and SN3 was simply commanded wrong. Rockets are hard.

What keeps a pressurized rocket safe from decompression like that? Is there a way to have redundancy on valves without adding more failure points? What happens if that happened before landing or while on Mars?

Elon, it seemed like CH4 tank was filled and the LOX tank which was not filled collapsed because of the weight.

Pretty much. Good news is that this was a test configuration error, rather than a design or build mistake. Not enough pressure in the LOX tank ullage to maintain stability with a heavy load in the CH4 tank. This was done with N2.

Invasive ventilators are for worst case patients. Survival rate at that point is low, as Gov Cuomo has pointed out. Nonetheless, we start delivery of intratracheal Medtronic units in NYC tonight.
