Grok 4.6 just matched Claude Fable 5 on Perplexity’s WANDR benchmark....at more than 60% lower cost
Both score exactly 0.496
But the cost per task is ridiculous:
• Grok 4.6 → $7.58
• Claude Fable 5 → $20.30
Same benchmark performance....for a fraction of the cost and Grok 4.6 also comfortably outperforms GPT-5.6 Sol

Tried Grok 4.6 on my bug bench an hour after release. 105 hidden bugs in two real repos, judged blind.
Grok 4.5: 17 (+10 non-planted)
Grok 4.6: 27 (+15 non-planted)
Fable 5: 29 (+2 non-planted)
Looks like it may be my new default model. The best combination of time, value, and cost.
4.7 is dropping soon. That may be an even bigger jump.

Grok 4.6 is pretty pretty good. Spent a few hours with it last night. A few impressions:
- quite fast for the intelligence
- prose descriptions of complex code is concise and clear
- able to tackle hard problems (e.g. successfully built a RAM probe to pull position information from the PRG emulator I'm using)
- Seems particularly good at longer running tasks
- May be even more autistic than 5.6? It does exactly what I ask. Not more. And often will take things very (too?) literally
- Gonna try it as my primary driver and see how it goes, but so far, quite favorable

But you HAVE to set it up the right way
Here are the first 5 steps to make your Grok Bot agent team SUPER powerful:
1. Brain dump everything about yourself, goals, passions, and career into the initial agent. This is going to give it the context it needs to set up your agent team
2. Next, prompt the agent "Based on what you know about me, what do you think would be the best set up of this Grok Bot app? Which bots should I make and what should their responsibilities be? This should enable the best workflow and productivity" This will give you the perfect plan for setting up Grok Bot
3. After reviewing the plan, ask the Bot to set up your workspace for you. It will create the agents, give the right context and descriptions, and make sure your setup is built for productivity
4. Next, ask it for which routines each agent can set up to help you out the most. This should give you a list of cron jobs (routines) that each agent can do on a regular interval
5. Ask the agent to implement these
And just like that, you have the most powerful AI agent on the internet all set up.

DHH@dhh· 13. Aug. 2026I had @spacexai Grok 4.6 follow Fable's plan, and with just a couple of nudges, it was able to repeat this feat in 1h 24m using 8.6M tokens at a cost of ~$55 at per-token pricing. That's about 1/10 the cost of the Fable implementation for the same work!
