Just A. Tinker
@John_Gardi · 28. Jan. 2020
This particular type of stainless steel is in its weakest state at room temperature.
Making it colder or hotter just improves the strength of the steel.
Elon: Will you double up the steel on the vertical welds of the hoops?
A good place for a propellant/cable race.
Waste NOTHING!

Hearing you point out room temp, you think it’d have no problem holding that at cryo, right?
Elon Musk
@elonmusk · 28. Jan. 2020
Parent material strength roughly doubles, so weld strength is the only real question mark

Starship 9m test tank made 7.5 bar at room temp! Small leak at a weld doubler. Will be repaired & retested at cryo.

SPONGEBOB FACT: Your Teslas work as boats for a short period of time Elon, but when are you going to make something for the undersea market? SpongeBob’s reckless ass could really use a self driving boat mobile!!

A Tesla works as a boat for short periods of time, as an electric car has no air intake or exhaust to block & battery/motor/electronics are water-sealed. Submarines are just underwater EVs.
