Since I’ve been asked a lot:
Buy stock in several companies that make products & services that *you* believe in.
Only sell if you think their products & services are trending worse. Don’t panic when the market does.
This will serve you well in the long-term.

That's exactly what Munger said yesterday. 3 people in charge of governance for all listed companies.

don’t forget proxy advisory firms (ISS, glass lewis), that de facto control the vote of the largest passive investment managers
ISS’s recommendation often the deciding factor in who wins a proxy fight
Elon Musk
@elonmusk · 1. Mai 2022
Major problem. Passive/index managers should vote in the best interests of shareholders, not shift responsibility to proxy advisory firms.

Exactly. Right before he died, Jack Bogle (of Vanguard fame) said index/passive funds were too great a percentage of the market and he really knew what he was talking about!
There should be a shift back towards active investment. Passive has gone too far.

Ah, but the shareholders themselves are mainly not applying the pressure, rather their managerial agents--professional investment managers--are. See for example Larry Fink, who owns ~0.0000001% of the capital he speaks for.
Elon Musk
@elonmusk · 1. Mai 2022
Exactly, decisions are being made on behalf of actual shareholders that are contrary to their interests! Major problem with index/passive funds.

Human tendency to conform, especially when in large groups, is terrifying. Propaganda machines leverage this throughout human history.
The way out is to think freely, detached from the divisive narratives of the day that masquerade as universal truths.
This often feels lonely.

I hope @elonmusk will insist that all Twitter posters use their real names & not be keyboard cowards hiding behind silly little sophomoric screen names. Be man enough or woman enough (if you even know what that is) to stand by what you say! If you can’t own it don’t say it.

Wellbutrin manufacturer GlaxoSmithKline literally pays doctors to make unproven claims about their medications.
No wonder “MD Twitter” is mad at @elonmusk.

How would this change our society and culture?
Alex Cohen@anothercohen· 30. Apr. 2022Prescribed psychedelics will replace amphetamines and SSRIs over the next decade (although I hope it's sooner than that)

I’ve talked to many more people who were helped by psychedelics & ketamine than SSRIs & amphetamines

A friend just emailed me about her bad Ritalin experience. Best to be cautious with all neurotransmitter drugs.

What do u think about Ritalin? Is that a good replacement for Adderall & Wellbutrin? Ritalin works sooner and reaches peak performance more quickly than Adderall does.

Marc Andreessen 🇺🇸@pmarca· 29. Apr. 2022Everyone thinks our present society was caused by social media. I'm wondering whether Adderall plus ubiquitous Google searches have bigger effects.
Elon Musk
@elonmusk · 30. Apr. 2022
Wellbutrin is way worse than Adderall imo. It should be taken off the market.
Every time that drug has come up in conversation, someone at the table has a suicide or near suicide story.

Using a modern 80-year lifetime as a unit, only 150 lifetimes ago, the Americas were untouched by people. The first human set foot in Europe only 500 lifetimes ago. 1,200 lifetimes ago we only lived in Africa. Humans are so new.

Everything we call civilization was invented in the last 500 generations—way too short a time for our bodies and brains to re-optimize. We're a bunch of primates in a totally unnatural environment, trying our best. Good thing to keep in mind!
